BIOGRAPHY
I've been creating art since childhood and was always the best artist in my grade school classes! Of course, I wanted to pursue art at the University of British Columbia, first obtaining a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts History, where I also enrolled in drawing course with BC Binning and a printmaking course with Tony Onley. I then transferred to Art Education at UBC where I studied painting with Ian Thomas and ceramics with Jean Weakland.
After teaching high school art in New Zealand and Vancouver, BC, I applied to the UBC School of Architecture and obtained my degree in Architecture in 1986. While working as an intern architect in Toronto, Ontario, and later as an architect on Salt Spring Island, BC and Prince Rupert, BC, I continued drawing, painting and photographing the local scenery. I also taught drawing and painting classes.
Since retiring I have been living in Comox, located on the east coast of Vancouver Island, where there is a very active arts community. In the spring of 2023 I exhibited my watercolour paintings in a solo show at the Pearl Ellis Gallery, where I also volunteer and teach drawing and painting classes. In the spring of 2024 I was accepted as an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, and have exhibited my paintings on-line and at the FCA Gallery on Granville Island in Vancouver, BC.
